The Tyndale Bible
Free
The Tyndale Bible refers to the English translations of the Scriptures by William Tyndale, a 16th-century scholar and reformer. It was the first English Bible translated directly from the original Hebrew and Greek texts, rather than Latin. Tyndale's work laid the foundation for many future English translations, including the King James Version. His translations made the Bible accessible to common people, challenging the Catholic Church's control over religious knowledge. Because of this, Tyndale was persecuted and eventually executed for heresy in 1536. Despite his martyrdom, his efforts had a profound and lasting impact on both Christianity and the English language.
